Conductor, teacher, and mezzo-soprano Greer Schatz is always looking for opportunities to make music with others in her hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University (Education Specialization), and a Masters of Music (Choral Conducting) and Bachelor of Education (Music) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers, focusing on Intermediate/Senior music education.
Greer is a former member of the Hamilton Children’s Choir artistic team, leading their Esplori program. Past conducting assistantships include the Atlantic Girls Choir, Cantus Vocum Chamber Choir, and Opera on the Avalon. Greer is the past recipient of the JUNO Legacy Award (2022), the Gladys Whitehead scholarship for excellence in choral direction and vocal pedagogy (2018), and the Canada Post Community Scholarship (2013).
When she is not singing and dancing around at rehearsal, you can find Greer teaching in her studio at the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts, or curled up on the couch with her cat and a good book.
