Julie Armes

Collaborative Pianist, Children's and Youth Choirs

Piano teacher, choir accompanist, and active volunteer in the KW community, Julie maintains a busy piano studio in Kitchener, where she loves helping students of all ages connect the dots, understanding the building blocks of music so they can easily learn new music and be creative in making their own music. She holds a B. Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a B. Education from Nippissing University, and received a Contribution to Teaching award from the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (ORMTA) in 2024. She is the chair of the committee planning Canada Music Week activities and current president of the KW branch of ORMTA.

She is active as an accompanist and occasional song leader at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church and has accompanied both the Age of Majority Singers and Fireside Voices choirs in the past. When she’s not involved in music-making, she enjoys planning social events with her neighbours and advocating for social justice issues.
