Children's Choir Conductor

Andrea de Boer-Jones (better known to her singers as Mrs. DJ) is an active music educator, conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and performer with more than 27 years of teaching experience. She is beginning her 18th season with the Grand Philharmonic Children’s Choir and is currently the Music Teacher and Chapel & Events Coordinator at St. John’s-Kilmarnock School, where she has inspired students for the past 11 years. 

Throughout her career, Andrea has directed award-winning choirs in independent schools across Ontario and Quebec, leading performances at venues including Roy Thomson Hall, Centre In The Square, River Run Centre, and the Rogers Centre. She has toured with choirs throughout Canada, Europe, and the United States, and her choirs have shared the stage with artists including Kenny Rogers, K’Naan, Kurt Browning, Danielle Wade, and AJ Bridel.

A respected clinician and adjudicator, Andrea has worked with choirs, vocalists, and speech arts festivals across Canada. A passionate music educator, Mrs. DJ has presented at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) for teachers taking additional qualifications courses and general classroom teachers teaching music. She also mentors music educators and choral directors, sharing practical strategies for building joyful, inclusive, and high-quality music programs.

Andrea’s love of musical theatre has seen her serve as musical director for productions including Oklahoma, Shrek, Little Shop of Horrors, Guys and Dolls, Wizard of Oz, Finding Nemo, and Alice in Wonderland. As a performer, her favourite roles include Sally Bowles in Cabaret and the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods.

Whether working with beginning singers or experienced ensembles, Andrea is committed to creating meaningful musical experiences that foster confidence, community, artistry, and a lifelong love of singing.
