Job Title: Collaborative Pianist/Accompanist – Grand Philharmonic Children’s and Youth Choirs
Season: September 2026 – April 2027
Compensation: commensurate with experience, payable monthly upon invoice
Position Overview:
The Grand Philharmonic Children’s and Youth Choir seeks a skilled and collaborative
pianist/accompanist to support the artistic and musical goals of the ensemble. This role is essential to the success of rehearsals and performances, and it involves working closely with the Children and Youth Choir conductor and choristers.
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide professional piano accompaniment for all rehearsals and performances.
● Lead sectional rehearsals as needed.
● Offer musical leadership and support to choir members during rehearsals.
● Occasionally assist the conductor of the GPC Children’s and Youth Choirs.
● Create practice tracks for posting online.
Qualifications:
● Advanced piano skills and prior experience accompanying choral groups.
● Strong collaborative and communication abilities.
● Ability to lead sectionals and provide musical leadership to young singers.
● Familiarity with choral repertoire for youth ensembles is an asset.
Additional Requirements:
● Must be familiar with the choir’s policies and procedures, including the Child Protection
Policy and Choir Handbook.
● A Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required.
Schedule:
The weekly and seasonal schedule will be coordinated with the Children and Youth Choir artistic team based on the ensemble’s needs. The pianist is encouraged to review and confirm the season’s calendar in advance.
